It is one of eight suffragan dioceses that are subject to the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Armagh.〔(Archdiocese of Armagh ). As of 25 January 2015, Philip Boyce reached the mandatory retirement age for a Roman Catholic Bishop which is 75 years of age. No announcement has been made yet on when Boyce will formally step down as the diocesan bishop. ==Geographic remit== The See covers most of County Donegal in the civil province of Ulster. It contains 33 parishes. The largest towns are Ballyshannon, Donegal, Letterkenny and Stranorlar. The bishop's residence - ''Ard Adomnán'' - is in the town of Letterkenny.
